Is trail work too much for you, but you’d like to help our parks? Come out for a weed-pulling day in Bear Creek Park! With all the rain we’ve been getting, the weed crop is high and ready to seed, so it’s important to get them now.
Saturday, August 1, 9 am – noon, Bear Creek Regional Park.
New bikes lanes installed on Austin Bluffs Boulevard near the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs are drawing criticism and anger from cyclists.
Bike lanes cross several lanes of traffic on the busy street, hug a concrete barrier, and offer little protection to cyclists. A new trail on the far side of the concrete barrier, which offers protection and connection to other routes, is neither signed nor indicated as an alternative to braving Austin Bluffs.

Pikes Peak Road Runners and the Trails and Open Space Coalition need your help on Labor Day weekend, September 5, 6 and 7. The American Discovery Trail Marathon, Half Marathon, Relay, and Kids Runs requires close to 250 volunteers, and serves as a major annual fundraiser for TOSC.

Colorado Springs is the only Colorado city with a 30 word limit for a ballot question. That’s not many. For important questions concerning funding Stormwater or Trails/Open Space, the Trails and Open Space Coalition think voters deserve a clear explanation of what they are voting for ( or against). We propose increasing the limit to 100 to better communicate future ballot measures.
Money talks. When we talk to policy makers and influential citizens about the impact of cycling in our region, we need hard data about the dollars involved. We know that bike-friendly communities have some of the highest job growth rates, and top the lists of places people want to live. Now we have the local data to back up our position that cycling brings tens of millions of dollars in economic benefits to our region, and gives increased return on the investment in infrastructure.
