Manitou Springs is updating its Parks, Open Space and Trails (POST) Master Plan in order to create a “roadmap” for future projects. Join in the Community Potluck, workshops, forum and open house to help identify values, needs and priorities for parks, open space and trails.
This week bicycle advocates received a warm welcome and great overview of Fort Collins Bicycle Infrastructure from the Fort Collins Moves staff. Fort Collins is only the second city in Colorado (after Boulder) to have achieved Platinum Bicycle-Friendly Status from the League of American Cyclists.
Colorado Springs City Council approved (on an 8 to 1 vote) a resolution proposed by Mayor John Suthers declaring the intent of the City of Colorado Springs to place a TABOR refund question on the ballot for Colorado Springs voters this fall. This special municipal election will be held as part of the El Paso County 2015 coordinated election on Nov. 3. A yes vote would mean 2 million dollars for critical trail projects, including trail repairs and improved signage.

The Pikes Peak Ranger District of the Pike and San Isabel National Forest, proposes to replace two trail bridges located on 7 Bridges Trail (622) at mile posts 0.4 and 0.9. The project is scheduled for Sept 5 – Nov 15, 2015 and may involve trail detours and/or closures during construction.
In March we were invited to be a part of the first Outdoors Expo at Ivywild, and it was a lot of fun. The Colorado Springs Young Professionals is putting on another one August 13, and TOSC will be there! People throwing trash and cutting switchbacks are damaging the Incline and Barr Trail.
Incline Friends, with assistance from the Trails and Open Space Coalition and the Friends of Ruxton Canyon, are starting an Incline Ambassador program in the month of August to help educate people to pack out trash and stay on the trails.
