Trail work in Red Rock Canyon

RRCOS Landfill Closure. Colorado Springs Parks, Recreation & Cultural Services will be working in Red Rock Canyon Open Space this week restoring a rogue trail near the landfill. Heavy equipment will be operating, please respect the closure as the Parks Department is working to provide a new trail and improve user experience in this area.

    The Palmer Mesa Trail South of 19th is a mess. The City Parks Dept agreed to accept/maintain it in lieu of sidewalk and has not done so. There is no sidewalk or ADA compliance there. More $$ must go to complete this work; part of part of $1 million won’t do it. This has been neglected in favor of spending dollars on growth related projects and should now be prioritized …

      Thanks for the note. There is no doubt – the problem with our crumbling trails is much bigger than 1 million from 2B will fix.
      But we can certainly raise the question with staff – when will that section of the Palmer Mesa Trail be addressed and if its on any future budget list?
      And if not, why not?

    Please address the section of trail along the Cottonwood creek easy of Austin Bluff and behind the antelope Creek subdivision . This is a path that many children use to go to Jenkins Middle School and it’s in deplorable shape. If nothing else, could it at least be mowed?
