July Member Hike: Blodgett Open Space
Join Trails and Open Space Coalition (TOSC) and the Friends of Peregrine Open Spaces and Parks for a nice light hike in Blodgett Peak Open Space led by Aaron Rogers. The hike will begin on the west woodmen trail, then transitions onto unnamed trails that pass through three newly acquired parcels of open space. This gentle hike is approximately 3 miles long with roughly 400 feet of elevation gain (no official number can be found). The area has a peaceful babbling stream, pleasant views and plenty of Douglas fir, scrub oak, and Ponderosa pine trees. The endangered peregrine falcon frequents the open space, along with other wildlife.
Please note that due to ongoing restoration work in the area the route may be altered, but the hike will remain easy to moderate with similar mileage.
