A community member asked the Trails and Open Space Coalition:
“Several years ago when the Chestnut street bridge was rebuilt, a short trail segment was added to the Sinton Trail which goes under (rather than across) Chestnut road. I really liked that little addition, but a few months after it opened a large barricade with a “trail closed” sign was placed across it. It has remained closed for (I think) several years now. Does anybody know why? And will it ever reopen?”
We asked our partners at Parks that question and here’s the answer:
“we are working with a landowner for a trail easement on the east side of Chestnut. This has been in progress for several years and are hopeful it will resolve soon. The barricades were erected to keep trail users from trespassing for the time being.” Read more…
