The closure of a small section of the Santa Fe Trail on the Academy will be extended two additional days next month, Sept. 4-7, 2018, rather than Sept. 4-5 as originally scheduled.
The section will still be closed this week, Aug. 27-31.  It will be open for the three-day Labor Day weekend.
The location of the closing is near the Tri-Section bridge, .7 miles north of mile-marker 41 and .3 miles south of mile-marker 42 on the trail.
The extension is due to inclement weather which delayed planned demolition work on a bridge passing over the trail.
The Academy will notify the public of any further closures as they occur.
