Pikes Peak Litter Letter Project

Dedication: Wednesday, October 3, 2018 | 12PM
Clean-ups: Sept. 29-30
The Pikes Peak Litter Letter Project is coming to a park near you this fall!

Presented by Pikes Peak Outdoor Recreation Alliance (PPORA) and the Cultural Office of the Pikes Peak Region (COPPeR) in collaboration with Fountain Creek Watershed, Creek Week, and Colorado Springs Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Services.
The Litter Letter Project is a 3D messaging system of letters constructed from chicken wire and rebar, filled with litter collected from local parks and trails, primarily during the kick-off week of Creek Week, Sept. 29-30. By displaying these large scale visual messages in a public space the hope is to provoke response, thought and action. The Litter Letter Project is a way to begin the conversation.
The partners have chosen “INSPIRE” as the word to be displayed as it works so well in their various contexts:
INSPIRE artistic creativity
INSPIRE passion for the outdoors
INSPIRE environmental stewardship

NOTE: Volunteers needed!
1. Concrete Couch is working tirelessly with kids and adults Wednesday afternoons, 3:30-5:30 PM creating the letters for INSPIRE but they need more volunteers! If you can help out with this hands-on project of all recycled products at their Fab Lab in Manitou Springs, that would be great! Contact Steve for details at concretecouchorg@gmail.com
2. PPORA is looking for additional clean-ups on our public lands Sept. 29-30 to collect enough litter to fill all of the letters. That’s a lot of trash! Let us know if your friends group or outdoor group wants in on the action! Contact Becky for more information at becky@ppora.org.
