Colorado Springs City Council, TOPS Working Committee and Parks Advisory board all approved the purchase of 3 parcels that would expand the Blodgett Open Space by 64 acres. TOPS will use open space dollars to finance the $775,000 purchase.
The land, on the southeast side of Blodgett Open Space, was included in the 2014 Parks Master Plan as a candidate open space. In addition to protecting the mountain views, the property provides a connection to Blodgett Ranch Trail and Pike National Forest. There is also an existing loop trail.
Members of the Peregrine HOA spoke in favor of the acquisition. They currently support volunteer projects in Blodgett Open Space and pledged to continue their support.
