Burn restrictions announced for Colorado Springs
Due to current and forecasted weather conditions, the Colorado Springs Fire Department  has enacted a Burn Restriction Order as of June 8th.
  • No open fires
  • No smoking in city parks and open spaces
  • No fireworks without a permit
  • Some restrictions on small combustion tools, like chainsaws

Outdoor burning guidelines and additional public safety information is available via the Colorado Springs website.

Join the Trails and Open Space Coalition for the 24th Annual Starlight Spectacular on June 16th, 2018. This fun and family-friendly night-time bicycle ride is suitable for most ages and abilities. We’ve had kids as young as 8 and adults in their 80s ride with us! Get out your western wear and celebrate the Wild, Wild West!

30th Street Corridor Public Meeting June 14
30th Street Corridor Public Meeting 
Thursday, June 14 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.
Holmes Middle School, 2455 Mesa Road
The City of Colorado Springs has begun design plans for roadway improvements along 30th Street between Fontanero Street and Garden of the Gods Road. This road has been identified as a corridor with needed safety, pavement and drainage improvements that will better facilitate emergency vehicles and provide for an emergency evacuation route. Design elements will include multi-use shoulders, drainage abatement, slope stability and improved traffic operations.

Volunteer Interpreters needed at Rainbow Falls

Rainbow Falls Historic Site will be open starting in July on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday from 10 am – 4 pm.
Volunteers are needed for 3 hour shifts.
Help us preserve Rainbow Falls and share its unique story with others through interpretation. Interpreters will provide visitors with Rainbow Falls history, current restorations, trail locations, park rules and regulations, and overall orientation. Training will be provided.

Pikes Peak Ave Bike Lanes Ribbon Cutting 
and Community Ride Wed, June 20

The public is invited to a ribbon cutting and community bike ride to celebrate the completion of pedestrian and bicycle improvements downtown. The installation of bike lanes on Pikes Peak Avenue completes the “Link the Loop” project that enhances the City’s network of safe connections for people on foot and bike through the downtown core and to the Legacy Loop trail system.
