Starting Monday, January 8: Ridge Road access will be permanently closed between W. Pikes Peak Avenue and Colorado Avenue for the installation of a transit and trail plaza with bus, pedestrian, and bicycle oriented services. To travel around the closure, motorists can take Colorado Avenue to S. 36th Street or S. 34th street to connect with W. Pikes Peak Avenue and Ridge Road.
The closure area will be replaced with a transit and trail plaza, which includes:
• Aesthetic wall between W Pikes Peak and Colorado Avenues
• Street lighting
• Sidewalks
• Landscaping
• Bike racks
• Bike repair vending machine
• Mountain Metro queue jump – A queue jump allows buses to have their own designated lane and then merge into traffic safely.
A new traffic signal will also be installed at the new T-intersection of Ridge Road and Colorado Avenue. Yellow lines show the alternate route.
