- FOX RUN REGIONAL PARK – ASPEN LAKE LOOP TRAIL REPAIRS
- Time: 9:00am – 11:00am
- Meet at Gazebo – 2110 Stellar Drive; Colorado Springs, CO 80921
- Bring: Gloves, Bucket; Plan for weather; Water, Snack;
- Project: Trail maintenance and repairs
- Will be asked to sign a waiver:
- Volunteers will be asked to assist with trail maintenance and repairs along the lower lake loop at the Aspen Lakes in Fox Run Regional Park. Trail restoration efforts such as adding and resurfacing the loop with new trail base, digging out water bars, reinforcing erosion alongside the trail and lake with matching rocks and small boulders and replacing railroad ties in high washout areas will be completed. Volunteers are asked to bring work gloves, a bucket, water and snacks. Plan for weather. Volunteers to meet at 9:00am at the Aspen Lakes Gazebo.

- FOUNTAIN CREEK NATURE CENTER TRAIL SAFETY ENHANCEMENT AND BEAUTIFICATION
- 9:00am – 12:00pm
- Meet at the Fountain Creek Nature Center Outdoor Pavilion; 320 Peppergrass Lane, Fountain, CO 80817
- Bring: Work Gloves, Water, Snack, Insect repellent and sunscreen; plan for weather
- Project: Trail Safety Enhancement and Beautification
- Volunteers will be asked to sign a waiver
- Volunteers will be asked to help improve safety along a section of trail at the Fountain Creek Nature Center and a portion of the regional trail between FCRP and Willow Springs Volunteers will cutback overgrown vegetation from designated areas on the Nature Center trail and Fountain Creek regional trail. By doing so the result will produce a safer and esthetically pleasing trail. Majority of the cutting will be on branches no more than 1” in diameter. Smaller children can help with pick-up of twigs and smaller branches. Volunteers are asked to bring work gloves, water and snacks. Plan for weather. Volunteers to meet at 9:00am at the Fountain Creek Nature Center Outdoor Pavilion.

- HIKE WITH COMMISSIONER VANDERWERF AT BEAR CREEK NATURE CENTER
- Location: Bear Creek Nature Center – 245 Bear Creek Road, Colorado Springs, CO 80906 (Song Bird Trail)
- Time: 10:30am – 11:30pm
- Length of Walk (approx. 1.5 miles or so)
- Celebrate National Trails Day by walking the beautiful Bear Creek Nature Center Song Bird Nature Trail with El Paso County Commissioner Stan VanderWerf. Meet other outdoor enthusiasts at the Bear Creek Nature Center at 11:00am on Saturday, June 3rd. Listen to the birds, enjoy the great outdoors and hike with your District 3 Commissioner, Stan VanderWerf.
