Update Feb 2–The trail has re-opened. The US Air Force Academy will conduct a base-wide exercise Wednesday, Feb. 1, limiting base access to Department of Defense identification cardholders and badged contractors only.
The base will be closed to visitors/tourists for the entire day. Non-DoD identification cardholders who have scheduled official business at the Academy must coordinate with their host to be badged and escorted.
The portion of the Santa Fe Trail running through the Academy will be closed to non-DoD identification cardholders from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and will re-open immediately after the conclusion of exercises at 5 pm.
