Mavic Haute Route Rockies 2017

One of the most prestigious cycling events for amateur riders will come to Colorado this summer, and the exciting final stage and finish will take place in Colorado Springs, hosted by the Colorado Springs Sports CorporationMavic Haute Route Rockies 2017 will feature seven timed, ranked and fully-supported stages from Saturday, June 24 to Friday, June 30. The Start Village opens on Friday, June 23.
Modeled after OC Sport’s three successful events in Europe – Haute Route Alps, Pyrénées, and Dolomites – Mavic Haute Route Rockies is set for its inaugural run in 2017 with six host cities in Colorado on the route. As many as 600 cyclists are expected. Carving through the heartland of American cycling, the Mavic Haute Route Rockies 2017 will feature an unforgettable combination of jaw-dropping scenery and breathtaking climbs. The event offers committed amateur riders the opportunity to compete with a professional level of off-the-bike support unprecedented in U.S. amateur cycling.
The event starts in Boulder on June 24th, and finishes in Colorado Springs on June 30th. Competitors face seven timed and ranked stages covering 875km (550 miles) and in excess of 16,000 vertical meters (52,500 feet) of climbing on some of Colorado’s best known mountain roads, many soaring above 3,000 meters in altitude (10,000 feet).

  • Stage 1: Boulder – Boulder (112km, 1,900M+ / 69 miles, 6,280 feet) Ascent: Sunshine Canyon 2,849m / 9,338ft
  • Stage 2: Boulder – Winter Park (129km, 3,300M+ / 80 miles, 10,880 feet) Cols & ascents: Magnolia Drive 2,501m / 8,205ft, Central City Pkwy Climb 2,712m / 8,898ft, Berthoud Pass 3,446m / 11,307ft
  • Stage 3: Winter Park – Avon (153km, 2,000M+ / 95 miles, 6,630 feet) Cols & ascents: Cottonwood Pass 2,713m / 8,901ft, Trough Road 2,500m / 8,202ft, Wolcott 2,510m / 8,235ft
  • Stage 4: ITT Avon – Avon (17km, 650M+ / 11 miles, 2,060 feet) Cols & ascents: Mountain Star 2,584m / 8,478ft, Wildridge 2,646m / 8,681ft
  • Stage 5: Avon – Snowmass Village (164km, 2,700M+ / 102 miles, 8,850 feet) Cols & ascents: Battle Mountain 2,792m / 9,161ft, Tennessee Pass 3,177m / 10,424ft, Independence Pass 3,687m / 12,095ft
  • Stage 6: Snowmass Village – Crested Butte (170km, 3,000M+ / 106 miles, 9,970 feet) Cols & ascents: Sopris Creek Road 2,474m / 8,117ft, McClure Pass 2,669m / 8,755ft, Kebler Pass 3,050m /10,007ft
  • Stage 7: Colorado Springs – Colorado Springs (70km, 1,400M+ / 44 miles, 4,590 feet) Ascent: Gold Camp Road 2,275m / 7,464ft. This stage will start and finish at Rock Ledge Ranch on the east side of Garden of the Gods Park.
