New Parking in Ute Valley Park

Friends of Ute Valley Park report that the trailhead and parking area for the East Loop Trail on the northeast side of Ute Valley Park is now open. Access is via the entrance to the Hewlett Packard property off of Rockrimmon Blvd. Looking forward, this trailhead access will be important as the completion of the East Loop comes about in the near future. And the upcoming construction of the regional trail will also connect there. The lot has spaces for 30 vehicles and will help reduce some pressure from the Vindicator entrance parking lot.
“There is still some trail work to be completed, a planting to take place next spring and the official marker sign to be installed,” said Sarah Bryarly of Colorado Springs Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Services. “It is a soft opening for now, but we encourage everyone to come take a look and appreciate the project.”
Bryarly also reminded park users that going beyond the roundabout and parking area will place you on private property belonging to Hewlett Packard and to please be respectful. Future signage will provide that clarity.
It is great to report on the success of the Friends of Ute Valley Park work projects from this year due to so many generous volunteers. The additional parking area for more access to the park is also excellent. There will be more parking soon off of Rusina at the far eastern edge of the park, from an upcoming project slated to be done. There will be continued work on the East Loop and Ridge Line trails that will create more enjoyment for everyone.
