The City Forestry Department has placed a large amount of pink and orange flagging in Stratton Open Space and University Park (and soon Bear Creek Canyon Park) which designates boundaries for future forest restoration projects. Blue paint means a “leave” tree that will remain after cutting. Red paint means edge of boundary.
The treatment won’t begin until Jan of 2017, but they needed to locate the polygons in the field for contractors to create bids for the work.
See attached maps for Stratton Open Space, University Park and Bear Creek Canyon Park where we will have projects going in early 2017. These projects will be machine and hand work involving cutting and masticating oak brush and trees.
