2D Trail Repairs Update
Colorado Springs Parks is finishing up repairs on eight critical trails. Voters supported the $2.1 million expenditure when they voted yes on 2D last year.
Planned repairs on Sand Creek, the Pikes Peak Greenway and Skyline Trail are completed.
Palmer Mesa is under construction and could be finished by the middle of November.
Rock Island is under contract and will be completed before the end of the year.
Work gets underway on Shooks Run next week.
Homestead and Sinton projects are out for bid and the work will be completed early in January.
Parks tell us that some of the projects are costing two to four times more than expected, because of unexpected increases in materials costs. We won’t get as many miles of repairs as we had hoped, but there will be major repairs on all eight trails. Parks is doing as much as they can with the money available.
