The Manitou Incline will close August 20, 2016, two days earlier than previously announced. The popular trail will be closed August 20-21 for the Pikes Peak Ascent and Marathon, and remain closed for about four months for repairs on the lower section of treads.
Work will include repairing and replacing damaged retaining walls, cleaning up rebar and loose debris, adding additional drainage structures, stabilizing the existing ties, and stabilizing the surrounding slopes. Currently, there are several failed drainage structures. During construction, additional drainage structures will be added. This will slow  water coming down the slope, which will help reduce erosion and ensure the long-term health of the Incline.

Barr Trail will also be closed to the public August 20-21, and will re-open after that weekend’s events.
