Find out more about where to cycle, how to stay safe, why bicycle infrastructure matters for cities, and what organizations and the City are doing to help create a network of trails and bikeways. Speakers include Randy Neufeld of the SRAM Cycling Fund and our new Senior Bike Planner Kate Brady.
Registration is required for this free event. Includes lunch and after-Summit Happy Hour and networking.
Partners include UCCS and the UCCS Sustainability Department, the Colorado Springs Independent, SRAM, Bike Colorado Springs and the Trails and Open Space Coalition.

9 am Great American Cleanup–21 sites, all ages welcome
At the workshop, the history of the trail will be presented, how the work of other initiatives support this project, and the project goals. In addition, there will be hands-on-activities for the public to provide input to the planning team on their perception of the Legacy Loop corridor.
Triple S Brewing Launches ThirstyThursday Bike Cruise
Triple S Brewing is starting a weekly bike cruise on Thursdays on the Legacy Loop, beginning April 28, starting from the brewery at 318 E Colorado Ave.
Come on out next Tuesday, April 26, to support the Friends of Red Rock Canyon Open Space, and hear about the upcoming repair and trails projects! $1 for every beer sold will benefit the Friends Group.

The New Cottonwood Creek Trail.
Pikes Peak Greenway Closure
The paved section of the Pikes Peak Greenway Trail (east of Fountain Creek) south of America the Beautiful Park closed the morning of Monday, April 4 for approximately one month as crews demo and reconstruct the Cimarron-over-Fountain-Creek bridge for the I-25/ Cimarron Interchange Design Build Project. The gravel section of the Pikes Peak Greenway Trail is open.
Cheyenne Cañon closures.
Cañon Road is currently closed from the Starsmore Center to the Mt. Cutler trailhead for culvert replacements prior to paving the entire road. Construction is in Phase B at present. See the City’s website for descriptions of the work done, closure schedules and detour routes.
Cottonwood Trail section completed
A major construction project is finishing up at Cottonwood Creek Trail near Vincent and Zios, and is now open between the Pikes Peak Greenway near Criterium Bikes and Vincent Drive. Check it out!
Pikes Peak Greenway (south, near Janitell) Fall 2016
Since the flood took away large piece of land, a portion of the Fountain Creek bank is now on private land. City Parks is working through the city’s legal office to get an easement before they can reconstruct the trail.
Construction is expected to begin this summer with the project completed by fall.
Construction on South Sand Creek Trail to connect with Greenway May 2016
When the trail is complete, possibly by end of May, it will allow trail users to travel from Hancock Expressway to E. Las Vegas St. along Sand Creek and connect to the Pikes Peak Greenway Trail near the Juvenile Justice Center. Watch for updates on this exciting development!
