Choose your route, from 14 to 22 miles, starting and ending at Garden of the Gods Visitor and Nature Center, through the City of Colorado Springs, Old Colorado City and the Garden of the Gods. We ride on streets, with lots of lighted directional signs and volunteers pointing the way. Two rest stops with music and refreshments enliven the route.
The Board of TOSC has voted to support the Broadmoor Land Exchange if certain specific conditions are met.
If conditions are met regarding conservation, access, and public process, the Board of TOSC feels that the exchange would be in the best interest of the community and forward our mission of preservation and trail connection.
The end result, if the process is carried out in the way we suggest, would be more conservation of open space, more protected acres, more trail connections and more public process.
More conservation–a conservation easement on Strawberry Hills would protect the land in perpetuity.
More protected acres–the City of Colorado Springs would gain 371 acres of parkland, and some 180 acres, tranferred to the Broadmoor, would be protected by deed restrictions and conservation easement, forever.
Trail connections–the City would gain 115 acres of new public trail easements, and realize a big goal of extending the Chamberlain Trail south.
Public process–several more public meetings would be held, to give everyone a chance to be heard.
What a special treat to have former Craftwood Inn executive chef and now sommelier Jeff Knight from Southern Wine to team up with Chef Jay for a ripping good dinner that is already half sold out for Tuesday, March 8th at 6pm. $59 + tax and service for five courses and five wines, and the proceeds benefit the Trails and Open Space Coalition.
Please join us for a very special event featuring Beth Chorpenning. From the artist, “The title (“Bloom”) is meant to describe this moment and every moment as a fresh, never before seen, unfolding occurrence.” Come enjoy the moment, meet the artist, and relish these beautiful watercolors.
Poor Richard’s and the artist are partnering to donate all profits from sales to the Trails and Open Space Coalition.
