Bear Creek Trail to open Nov 18

The Bear Creek trail connection to the Pikes Peak Greenway (next to the 8th Street Walmart) is scheduled to re-open on Wednesday, Nov. 18.
In the past three months here is what the team has completed within the Bear Creek Trail closure area:

  • Relocated overhead power and fiber optic lines
  • Completed concrete box culvert and trail connections
  • Began major embankment work for the new I-25 alignment
  • Installed new drainage culverts

Business owners and trail users affected by the closure are invited to attend an informal celebration and Q & A session Wednesday, Nov 18 at 8 am. Start your day off with coffee and a breakfast burrito provided by the project managers as a token of their appreciation for your patience during the closure of Bear Creek Trail.
This will be a great opportunity to speak with project representatives and get your questions answered about current work and future construction in this area. Please RSVP to dot_i25Cimarron@state.co.us by Nov. 13.
The connection of the Bear Creek Trail with the Pikes Peak Greenway has been closed and detoured onto 8th Street at the Walmart for nearly three months. The detour was necessary so crews could extend the pedestrian/bicycle underpass for the Bear Creek Trail to accommodate the widening and reconfiguration of I-25.
