Manitou Springs City Council has raised the price of parking along Ruxton Avenue from $1 to $5 per hour, increased the daily Barr Parking lot from $5 to $10 and reduced parking hours to 7am – 8pm.
The Trails and Open Space Coalition has supported the legal opening of the Incline every step of the way.  We participated in an exhaustive public process. We helped create Incline Friends who raise money for maintenance and regularly lead trail projects to make the Incline sustainable.
When Manitou Springs started a shuttle service for Incline users we were delighted. We encouraged members to take advantage of the service and continue to heavily publicize its availability.
We regret that Manitou Springs isn’t making the shuttle a year round service. Our fear is that we have Incline users (especially members of the military) who use the Incline as a great and affordable way to exercise. They may not be able to manage the increased parking prices.
We continue to see the Incline as a great regional asset that contributes to our healthy region. We hope the two communities can come together and find an approach that doesn’t restrict use, recognizes the concerns of neighbors along Ruxton and protects the resource.
