City Parks Advisory Board Update Aug 2015

City Parks Advisory Board Update Aug 2015

The Colorado Springs Parks Advisory Board voted unanimously to support the construction of a new loop of single track to be built at Goose Gossage Park adjacent to the Pikes Peak Greenway. The new loop will be .8 mile and will be built by volunteers led by Jon Severson. Jon shared that Fountain officials have approached him with interest in having him build single-track trail in Fountain.

Congratulations to Jon and the Urban Singletrack Project!

Creekside Project – good news! Less asbestos found than was expected and has been removed. That means plans for installing the natural playground can go forward. No word on completion date.

Venezia Park is on time and on budget.

Incline did not get requested FEMA support for flood damage. A second grant request is still pending.

Foothills Trail is scheduled to reopen 1 – 2 weeks from now. Concrete will be added in 2016 when funding becomes available.

Foothills Trail was damaged in the 2015 floods and is being repaired.
