Today the TOPS Working Committee voted 6-1 to honor TOSC’s request and remove some operational funding from the 2016 TOPS budget.
We know there is a need, but don’t believe the TOPS Open Space Acquisition category is the right fund to use for operational expenses. TOSC did support using $746,000 in acquisition dollars for open space stewardship projects.
The budget goes before the Parks Advisory Board tomorrow, where TOSC will again argue that while the proposed projects are worthy, it’s a bad precedent to use acquisition dollars for operational needs. The budget proposal will be decided by city council this fall.
Free concerts in Monument Valley Park.
Join the Friends of Monument Valley Park for a concert series “Musical Mondays.”
July 13, 20, and 27, come out to the lawn west of the Fine Arts Center in Monument Valley Park for free concerts from 7-8 pm. Bring a blanket, dinner, family and friends. Enjoy the park and hear some great local music.
