Get ready for a BIG volunteer season! Beginning in April, there will be multiple opportunities to help out in every area of our region, by building or maintaining trails, cleaning up parks and the Greenway, building a disc golf course, tuning up a bike track, helping with flood and fire restoration in Black Forest and the Waldo Canyon Fire area, and more. Here are next week’s projects:
March 26 (Thursday) 5:30 -7 pm. Clearing brush and trees to prepare for construction of a new trail connecting the top of Lion Trail with Codell Trail in Red Rock Canyon open space. Meet at the 31st Street trailhead of Red Rocks for what will become an awesome trail connection.
April 1 (Wed) 5:30 – 7 pm. Ute Valley Park and Open Space work days will be the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month and run from 5:30-7:30 p.m. They willl continue every 1st and 3rd Wednesday until there’s not enough daylight at 7:30 p.m. Please email larry.dewitt@gm
April 2 (Thurs) 8:30 am – 2 pm. Help maintain the trails in Cheyenne Mountain State Park! Trail Crews primarily perform routine maintenance on the 20 miles of our existing trail system. That can mean anything from pruning overhanging greenery to cleaning and re-building erosion control devices. If you are interested in helping on a trail crew, and haven’t already registered, contact Darcy Mount at darcy.mount@state.co.us.
