Tuesday, Feb 24, 6-9 pm. Ute Pass Elementary School, 9230 Chipeta Park Rd, Cascade. El Paso County Parks is seeking public input on the final section of the Ute Pass Regional Trail. After a brief introduction, the meeting will break into small groups to identify possible trail alignments and trailhead locations for the five-mile trail corridor between Manitou Springs and Cascade.

After spending the year listening to the public — from a statewide listening tour to focus groups and public surveys — GOCO has unveiled a draft strategic plan to guide its funding priorities through 2020, and is asking for public input. Download the draft at this link. Submit comments and questions toinfo@goco.org by March 3.
GOCO invests a portion of Colorado Lottery proceeds to help preserve and enhance the state’s parks, trails, wildlife, rivers and open spaces. GOCO grants, matched or leveraged with local fundraising and other grants, have helped preserve more than 205,000 acres in El Paso County.

Join the Pikes Peak Group of the Sierra Club in a program celebrating the Centennial of Rocky Mountain National Park with a one-man, first-person performance. Storyteller and award-winning author John Stansfield reenacts key moments in the life of Enos Mills and dramatizes his part in the creation of Rocky Mountain National Park. Following the program, the audience is invited to learn more about Mills in a question-and-answer session.
From childhood on, Enos Mills (1870-1922) experienced a bond with mountains and wilderness, which inspired him to overcome personal hardship to become a successful speaker, writer, naturalist, and the driving force behind the birth of Rocky Mountain National Park, celebrating its centennial in 2015.

Carson St bridge closure Feb 2-mid March.

Fountain Creek Regional Trail bridge to open weekends.

 Colorado Springs Utilities will be overseeing repair work to the Carson Street Pedestrian Bridge in the Security – Widefield area beginning Monday, February 2, through mid-March. The bridge is used by Fountain Creek Regional Trail users to provide access over Fountain Creek.The bridge will be closed while the repair work is being completed. It is anticipated the bridge will be re-opened on weekends.
