Incline Work
The City of Colorado Springs has teamed up with the Incline Friends, the City of Manitou Springs, Friends of the Peak, REI, Rocky Mountain Field Institute, the Trails and Open Space Coalition, and volunteers to repair the area between the top of the Incline and Barr Trail. Over the years this area has suffered greatly from heavy use. Work during the volunteer projects will include closing existing social trails and building a new sustainable trail.
Volunteer days will be Saturdays–September 13, October 11 and November 1. Register to volunteer at www.coloradosprings.gov/volunteer. Participants must be 12 years or older; anyone under 18 must have a guardian accompany them during the workday. Check-in/late registration the morning of will begin at 7:30 a.m., in the Barr Parking Lot. The project will begin at 8:00 a.m., ending at 3:30 p.m. Please come prepared to work the entire day and hike 3 miles up Barr Trail to the project work site. Tools will be provided; however, bring your own gloves, water, hat, sunscreen and lunch.
Volunteers are encouraged to park outside of the pay area and hike up to the Barr Lot. Everyone who parks close in will have to pay for parking either along Ruxton or in the Barr Lot. If you do not want to pay, utilize a free lot in Manitou Springs and hike up to the Barr Trail Lot.
