2006 Hikes


 

We will again be hosting a hikes on area trails led by American Association of University Women and TOSC volunteers. Hikes are subject to change so please watch our web site and other announcements. Wear sturdy shoes, bring water, hat and sunscreen. Sorry, no dogs are allowed. Reservations not required unless specified.

Information on hikes for the rest of the year will be provided as the schedules are developed.

Bear Creek to Buckhorn Trails. 5m. Saturday, June 17, 8:00 a.m. Join the Trails and Open Space Coalition and AAUW for a moderate 5-mile hike in Bear Creek Cayon. Meet as the parking lot above Helen Hunt Falls at High Drive at 8:00 a.m. Car shuttle involved. No reservations required. Free. 633-6884 for info.

Red Rock Canyon to Section 16. 4m. Saturday, July 15, 8:00 a.m. Meet at the Section 16 Trailhead on Lower Gold Camp Road to shuttle cars to the RRC trailhead. Explore the new connection between two great open spaces at the south end of RRC.

Catamount Ranch Resource Protection Area (Teller County). 5m. August 19, 8:00 a.m. Reservations required. Call 633-6884 for details and reservations.

HIKERS

* Please arrive on time at the trailhead.
* Bring water and snacks.
* Wear clothes appropriate for the weather conditions.
* Sign the TOSC waiver for yourself and children under 18.
* Stay with the TOSC leaders. * Carry ID and health info.
* No dogs, please.

ETIQUETTE

* Stay on the trail.
* Pack trash out.
* Give way to faster hikers and horses.
