Location & Map

2010-starlight-mapThere are a number of options for the ride. Routes range from 14, 17 or 22 miles.

The longer routes include an enchanting loop through Garden of the Gods park. This includes a couple of hills, but is the most scenic of the possible tours.Heading west from the Visitor Center, majestic red rock formations greet you. Turning north you will find yourself winding through the park seeing it as few others do, since the park is normally closed to visitors at night. From there, you turn on 30th Street and begin your ride through the streets of Colorado Springs. You have the option of coming back into the Garden at the Trading Post off Beckers Lane or you may ride the Foothills Trail back to the Visitor Center.
If you choose not to ride the hills of the park, you may skip the Garden, head north on 30th Street and take the shorter 14-mile ride beginning on 30th St.  Along the way, you will have two rest stops sponsored by the Colorado Springs Cycling Club, REI and Old Town Bike Shop.
Helmets are required for the ride, as are lights, both front and rear. It can be very dark in the Garden and lights will make you more easily seen by motorists on city streets.
